Whether on your summer holidays or taking part in your daily commute. Getting the smart casual mix right when it's hot outside can be really tricky. That's where the maxi dress steps in to offer a cooling and comfortable solution - perfect for the hottest of days. It really is your summer wardrobe saviour!

Why not pick a cooling shade like grey, we love the new Splendid version that has just arrived at Netaporter a steal for only £120. Team with flats if the length hits the floor perfectly or opt for a wedge heel for those who need a little help in the height department. These L.K.Bennett Gillian wedge sandals compliment long dresses and skirts or can be teamed with shorts. The ankle strap adds the extra support that most wedges don't provide, so wobbles are kept to a minimum.

The final touch is a long tassel necklace - we have opted for this ultra lush Ileanea Makri version again from Netaporter. It compliments the dress perfectly, yes it does have a decadent price tag - but worth the effort to make this look sparkle.

There is no other way to stay and look cool - when it's hot outside...

Metallics are a staple key trend for Summer - but if you don't fancy looking like the tin man from the Wizard of Oz by wearing it, then plump for a flash of metallics in your accessories!

I am in love with Whistles statement metallic leather Verity backpack in striking silver £295 but am happy to settle for this ASOS version at just £25 it's the perfect on trend peice at a snip of the price.

Oh decisions decisions! Oh okay....credit card it is!

As the day starts to get lighter - thoughts turn to Spring and even dare we say it out loud, Summer! I know, I know, most fashion followers are already thinking AW14 trends - but let's just take a moment to indulge in everything that brings a hint of sunshine into our day - especially after all that rain.

Taking tangerine tones straight off the catwalk for Spring/Summer why not copy the trend and add a huge splash of citrus with Cedric Charlier's Oversized Dress, it is undoubtedly the perfect Spring staple. Finish the outfit off with L.K.Bennett Black Ribbon White leather peep toe heels and their Rosie Grab Bag in Clay - luxury leather at a fantastic price.

Let the Sunshine!

Shearling is once again all over the high end high street for Winter - so to get your slice of the pie why not plump for this fabulous shearling jacket By J Brand available at Net a Porter - it's well worth the investment and come in this lovely chalky grey. If you want a taste of the action for a fraction of the price H&M have a pretty impressive version for just £29.99. Team with skinny black jeans, ankle boots and a cashmere jumper for the ultimate luxe look.

Put your best foot forward this Winter and kick the fallen leaves up in style with a pair of beautiful leather ankle boots. Although, you may love them so much kicking leaves and dirt might feel a little sacrilegious.

There really are a great number of ankle boots on the hight street - our heads are constantly turning and choosing just one pair prooves to be very tricky. Not only are the styles spot on, with a variety of heel heights, colours and textures, there are also buckles and clasps for the perfect embellishment. Pick your pair, go on fill your boots!

Here are my favourites:
1. Aldo Scolacia Ankle boot £100
2. Russell and Bromley Gold Cup Trimmed Boot £245
3. Jimmy Choo Melba Nappa Ankle Boot £625
4. Kurt Geiger Vice Ankle Boot £150
5. Plumo Razor Boot £149
6. L.K.Bennett Jamie leather biker boot £275
7. Topshop Affanita Chelsea Boot £62

My look of the week!
Add a splash of wine or burgundy to your outfit for a sumptuous Winter look and top it off with a simple cashmere jumper. Plus invest in a statement rubber or leather skirt too, I love this one from Burberry Prorsum, fresh off the catwalks it's luxe through and through.

When it comes to knitwear this winter - anything goes - whether bright, traditional check, motif, intarsia, animal print or stripes. Show your Knit wit by wearing a standout jumper. Team with leather trousers or a mid length skirt and heels for an office friendly up beat workwear wardrobe update or dress down with skinny jeans for casual warm and toasty weekend style.

Novelty fashion items I tend to stay well clear of - as soon as you get round to wearing them the next novelty item has come around.

But... I love these chic little Minna Parikka Bunny loafers - exclusively being sold at Plumo.com

The classic style with edgy bunny ears gives these loafers that modern up to date look -perfect for the wintry wet weather that's just around the corner.

If you invest in one flat this season forget Charlotte Olympia pumps and opt for these little beauties.

Animal print is a true hit this season not only on the high street but on all of the catwalks - I have a feeling it will feature in many a collection come London fashion week in september.

To make it work without looking like Bet Lynch, go for a bold statement piece and team with black or simply add a pop of print with a striking accessory - I love these Stella McCartney sunnies & printed calf skin heels from L.K.Bennett.

From top left: River Island Suede Gloves £22; L.K.Bennett Florete Heels £210; River Island Printed Skater Skirt £18.00; Stella McCartney Animal Print Sunglasses £146; Kenzo Tiger Print Wool Scarf £290;  Topshop Animal Print Wellingtons £28; Maxmara Studio Donald Jacket £858 & Lulu Guiness Wild Cat Hug & Hold Clutch £175.

When it comes to necklaces bigger is definitely better to stay on trend this season. The size of neck adornments have been growing steadily every season and it has now reached its peak. If they get any bigger we will need to get stronger neck muscles.

Here are my favourites from the high street. From top left;River Island Beetle necklace & River Island Purple statement necklaceASOS Rainbow Jewel Link Chain Necklace; J Crew Reeves NecklaceLanvin Babylon Crystal Necklace &  finally my favourite is this witty Bug & Rhinestone Collar from Topshop.

This seasons must haves are the lightweight jogger trousers. Nearly every high street fashion retailer has these lovely silky patterned pants as part of their collection. Team with heels or some edgy flats for an effortless work to evening look. Plus they are super comfortable and ultra flattering to most shapes.

I have already started saving for mine...

For those of you who can't wait that long this high street hit from Zara is a pretty cool alternative. Their black & ivory bowling bag is less than £60. It's not the real deal but a suitor none the less. I'm sure they won't be around for long.
